二、项目介绍                                        

Network Anomalies Detection by FPGA at the Edge

Real time computation and deep learning at the edge is crucial for mission critical applications, such as cyber security. Instead of moving massive amounts of data from its origin to a data center/cloud, network anomalies detection at the edge will bring greater benefits to deliver services with increased efficiency, rapid insights, decreased network latency, increased security, mitigated risk, and location awareness. However, edge based processing of AI algorithms faces challenges until now because of the large processing needs and the resource limitations at the edge devices, such as computing power, networking, and memory storage. Hence, the current deep learning models cannot be directly implemented on the edge devices. In addition, alternative hardware accelerators instead of GPUs, CPUs and TPUs are required to tackle these challenges.

Currently we are investigating the acceleration of deep neural networks by FPGA on network anomalies detection. Co-design of algorithm and hardware will be adopted to optimize the FPGA architecture to adapt to the computation patterns of temporal based deep neural networks (DNNs). We aim to yield novel methodologies and techniques to enable network anomalies detection at the edge. The students will be involved in the works such as FPGA optimization, algorithms optimization on various FPGA architectures, prototyping and testing techniques. This work will serve as a guideline for design and implementation of network anomalies detection for future cyber security.

三、具体安排

1、即日起开始接受报名和咨询，申请截止日期2018年4月21日；

2、交流时间：2018年7月中旬至2018年9月底

四、选拔方式

1、网上申请：个人申请，申请者通过教学管理信息服务平台10.202.110.46:8080/jwglxt（或10.202.78.14）申请（与老系统账号密码通用，具体操作方式见附件1）项目代码及名称分别为20172154新加坡科技设计大学暑期科研交流项目。

2.材料提交：个人简历以及在校成绩单等电子材料一并发送至zhongtingting@zju.edu.cn，邮件名为“班级+姓名+新加坡科技设计大学暑期科研交流项目报名”，报名截止4月21日。

五、说明

1.安全问题：入选者需要购买一份人身意外险，其他安全问题将由学生本人和家长自己承担，并向学院提供保险单复印件；

2、申请人本人承担主要费用，包括往返机票，公寓租住及日常开销等。该项目将获得学校一定额度（6000元以上）的资助。
