Abstract:
Over the last four decades, integrated circuits have progressed from being nonlinear-circuit-dominant to linear-network-dominant. Industry have developed hierarchical methodology and incorporated state-of-the-art solver to provide a stable, accurate, and scalable solution for the future process technology and design generations within the SPICE-like simulation framework. In the meanwhile, a transformative extraction-free circuit simulation paradigm to fundamentally overcome the shortcomings of the existing simulation frameworks has been proposed. Going from layout to simulation directly, an electromagnetics-based circuit simulator of linear complexity, linear speedup, minimal order, and unconditional stability has been developed. This talk will share original ideas and first-hand experience in both state-of-the-art SPICE and electromagnetics solutions for IC simulation.
Biography:
Qing He received the B.E. degree from Zhejiang University, China in 2006 and Ph.D. degree from Purdue University, USA in 2012, all from the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. He studied in Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences from 2006 to 2007. He is a senior R&D engineer at Oracle Sun Microsystem in Silicon Valley since 2012.
His research interests include high performance computing for VLSI circuit and electromagnetics simulation, analysis methodology in IC design, parallel solution to big data
problem, and cloud computing for engineering software.
Dr. He has published over 20 IEEE peer-review journal and conference papers. He was the recipient of the 2013 S. A. Schelkunoff Prize Paper Award of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society. The S. A. Schelkunoff Prize Paper Award recognizes the BEST PAPER published in the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation during the previous year. He received Best Student Paper Award from FEM2012 (the 2012 International Workshop on Finite Elements for Microwave Engineering). He was nominated for the 2013 ACM Outstanding Ph.D. Dissertation Award in Electronic Design Automation (EDA).
贺青博士于2006年获得浙江大学电子工程学本科学位,并于2012年获得美国普渡大学电子与计算机工程学博士学位。从2006年到2007年他在中国科学院研究生院工作学习,从2012年至今贺青博士在位于硅谷的甲骨文公司任职高级研发工程师。
贺青博士的研究领域包括超大规模集成电路和电磁场的高性能仿真,芯片设计的分析方法,大数据问题的并行算法,以及工程软件中的云计算。
贺青博士在IEEE的杂志和会议上发表了20多篇学术文章。他是2013年度的S. A. Schelkunoff 奖获得者。S.A.Schelkunoff奖授予IEEE天线与传播杂志的年度最佳论文获得者。他获得了有限元用于微波工程2012年国际研讨会的最佳学生论文奖。贺青博士获得了2013年度ACM电子设计自动化杰出博士论文奖提名。
