ABSTRACT:
For the last 40 years, the history of Silicon Valley has been characterized by a series of disruptive technological innovations, each of which has triggered an economic boom. Following an introduction to Silicon Valley, this presentation provides an analysis of the role of Stanford University and other factors that together have allowed the Silicon Valley "eco-system" to capitalize on such disruptive innovations for positive, sustained economic growth. The talk then explores what aspects of the Silicon Valley system may apply in the context of present-day Zhejiang Province.

WiNTeB is a national project funded by the US National Science Foundation, led from Kennesaw State University in Atlanta with support from University of California at San Diego (UCSD) and University of Southern California (USC).
