Title: Opportunities of ECE Master's Education atDuke/DKU

Abstract: Duke is one of the highly rankeduniversities in US. Duke Kunshan University is a Sino-US partnership of DukeUniversity, Wuhan University and Kunshan City. In this presentation, we willintroduce Duke University and Duke Kunshan University, focusing on the ECEmaster’s program. We will discuss the learning opportunities and how ourprofessional training facilitates students to be competitive candidates on theglobal job market, grow their long-term career paths and become globaltechnical leaders. We will showcase a number of unique features for ourmaster’s education, including close mentorship and individual care, excitingcourse/research projects, intercultural campus life, strong industrialconnection, extensive alumni network, competitive job placement, etc. Thehistorical connection between Duke and China is explained with examples such asCharlie Soong. Prof. Drew Hilton received his PhD in 2010 fromthe University of Pennsylvania, where he was a student of Amir Roth. Aftergraduating, he worked at IBM for two years, then went to Duke, where he iscurrently an Associate Professor of the Practice. Drew teaches Duke ECE'sintensive programming courses for Masters students, as well as courses onserver software, and compilers. In 2015, Drew won the Klein FamilyDistinguished teaching award, which is awarded to one faculty member in thePratt School of Engineering each year for teaching excellence. Drew also hastwo very popular Coursera Specializations in introductory programming, one in Cand one in Java.
