报告题目Physical and Bio-chemical Sensor Research Activities at Photonics Research Center, Universit du Quebec en Outaouais, Canada
报告时间2010915日上午9:30
报告地点:微电子楼3楼会议室
报告内容:Photonics Research Center at the University of Quebec at Outaouasis, Canada, is one of the leading centers in the world for fiber-optic sensor research. Established in the early 1990s, the Center unites around the Canada Research Chair in Photonics, held by Dr. Wojtek J. Bock, and combines the following expertise in photonics and in electronics: fiber-optic sensors; fiber optic and wireless communication; metrology and calibration of non-electrical parameters; optoelectronics; and, modeling, fabrication and characterization of photonic and electronic components, devices and systems.
This presentation will be given by the leader of the Bio-chemical Hazard Detection (BHD) group of the Center, Dr. Jianjun Ma.
The major contents of the presentation will cover the research activities across the entire Center, which are from both BHD and the fiber-optic long period grating development (LPGDP) groups. Highlights include our unique arc-induced tapered LPG on both regular and photonic crystal fibers, the investigation of variety of approaches on the enhancement of LPG sensitivities to physical parameters and the potential of LPG for chemical sample analysis. A particular emphasis will be given to the work under BHD group for their discovery of a unique physical mechanism, which enables their fiber-optic evanescent-wave sensing platform to hold several advantages in combination that is not possible before. Further remarkable characteristics of this platform for large amount sampling channel multiplexing with zero inter-channel crosstalk will be illustrated as well. Finally, the successful trace vapour TNT explosive detection project indicated the bright future of this platform for chemical and biological sample analysis.
报告人简历:Jianjun Ma(马建军) received his Ph.D. degree in Electrophysics and Optoelectronics from the Department of Information and Electronic Engineering, Zhejiang University, P.R. China in 1996. During the time as a PhD candidate and the following two years as the faculty member of the same department, his research focused on fiber-optic sensors for smart structures. From 1998 to 2000, he was at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore as a Research Fellow and continued in this research area. In 2000, he joined the Photonics Research Center, Universit du Quebec en Outaouasis, Canada, as a Research Scientist. His research involved white light interference fiber optic sensor system with emphasis on physical measurands. Since 2005, his research interests switched to novel fiber-optic sensing platforms for chemical and biological sample analysis. Under his team, the unique interdisciplinary work and findings so far have lead to fruitful publications in the well-know international conferences and recognized journals including Optics Letters and Optics Express.
