Mingyong Chen
Mingyong Chen, born in 1969, is a well-known Chinese entrepreneur. He graduated from the Department of Information and Electronic Engineering of Zhejiang University with a major in Physics and Electronic Technology in 1992. He is the founder of OPPO as well as the current CEO of OPPO. On February 26, 2020, he ranked 1443 in the 2020 Shimao Shenzhen-Hong Kong International Center·Hurun Global Rich List with a fortune of 14 billion yuan.
After his graduation in 1992, Chen joined Rihua Electronics Factory (the predecessor of Xiaobawang). Because of his outstanding performance in internship at Xiaobawang Company, Chen was promoted to assistant manager soon. In 1995, Chen left Xiaobawang and joined BBK. In 2001, the OPPO brand was registered, and then OPPO was formally established in 2004. In 2005, OPPO launched the first MP3 and in 2006, OPPO launched the first MP4. In 2008, Chen led OPPO to successfully build a phenomenon-level mobile phone product, which successfully established OPPO’s position in the industry, including the R series represented by OPPO R7, R9, R11, R15, and R17, as well as Find 7, Find X. Representative Find series products.
On April 10, 2019, Chen clarified the three major strengths of OPPO in the new stage: deep cultivation of mobile phone business, development of IoT, emphasis on technological innovation and brand building, and said that through tens of billions of R&D investment and a 10,000-person R&D team to enhance OPPO technology strength.
