Ye Peijian

Peijian Ye 

Peijian Ye is an expert in Spacecraft and Information Processing and an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is the Chief Commander and Chief Designer of the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program.

 

Ye was born in January 1945. In 1967, he graduated from Zhejiang University with a degree in Radio Technology. He became an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2003. He is a research fellow and Chief Engineer at the Chinese Academy of Space Technology (CAST).


From China’s first-generation transmission-type reconnaissance satellite, the first-generation long-lived real-time transmission earth observation satellite, to China’s first lunar exploration satellite, and even the Shenzhen stock trading satellite VSAT network that replaced the red vest... the Chief Engineer and Chief Scientist of pioneering space probes, Ye has been in the aerospace field for more than 50 years. He has personally experienced the development of China’s aerospace industry from scratch to strength. He has personally participated in the development of China’s satellites, remote sensing observations, moon and The development of deep space exploration.

 

In recognition of Ye's outstanding contributions in the fields of satellite remote sensing, lunar and deep space exploration, and space science, on January 12, 2017, the International Asteroid Nomenclature Committee approved the naming of the asteroid with the international number 456677 as Ye Peijian.
