This course covers circuit and system level design issues of CMOS integrated circuits for communication systems. Circuit level topics include, but not limited to, high speed and low noise amplifiers, mixers, VCO's, and high speed digital circuits. Specific system level topics include, but not limited to, frequency synthesizers, clock and data recovery circuits. In addition to learning analysis skills for the above topics, students will gain a significant amount of experience in simulating CMOS RF integrated circuits using Cadence Spectre RF. The measurement of RFICs using commercial equipment are presented as well.
